We entered another year with new challenges, new issues and old dilemmas. So far, we have learned that exposure to the sun in the interval from 10h to 16h is not recommended – it is actually risky. We also know that UVA, UVB and IR radiation protection creams are applied to photoexposed skin every two hours, as well as after swimming and showering. Keep babies and children in the shade with the protection of their skin with creams. These recommendations refer to people who do not have skin diseases.
Of those who have acne, rosacea, skin tumors, additional caution is required! Young people who have an acne problem should pay more attention to protecting the face during their stay at sea side. The skin is “defended” by pigmentation and thickening of the epidermis due to which the sealing channels of the sebaceous glands are closed. The end result is almost regular exacerbation (worsening) of acne, shortly after returning from the sea side: inflammatory papules and papillo-pustules. For acne-prone skin, there are special protective creams.
Rosacea means the constant avoidance of exposure to heat sources, and therefore the sun. If people with this problem go on vacation, it is recommended to use a dedicated skin protection with rosacea.
If you have pigmented facial changes, it is necessary to use special protection for “stains” with the regular protection of other parts of the face and body. The pharmaceutical industry has made efforts to produce creams for people with photoalergic and atopic dermatitis. For people with mature skin, photoprotective anti-aging creams are recommended.
Patients with skin tumors (other than melanoma) and / or precancerous changes are provided with protective creams for everyday use. If moles are suspicious, it is necessary to regularly monitor them in the context of dermatological examinations and controls. We must not forget that the skin is a unique organ. This means that all moles on the skin will react to the sun – both photoexposed and those that are under bathing suits or clothes. Dermatologist examinations are recommended before departure and / or one month after returning from the sea side.
Enjoy the summer in the shade!!
